José Cruz is from El Salvador, and he started dancing when he was 12 years old. He always enjoyed dancing to any kind of music, and in his teenage years he danced a lot of, salsa merengue and cumbia. He arrived in L.A. in 1995, and after a year came to Eugene, Oregon.
Soon after, he was invited to be part of a salsa group and since then has been a bonafide salsaholic. He started performing locally and a soon after José started his own dance group, salseros dance co.
José has been teaching since 1999. He began with "rueda de casino" (cuban salsa done in a circle). In the past few years he has been concentrating more on teaching the "L.A" style.
José has taken classes from world top salsa instructors and continues to take advanced classes in, Seattle, San Francisco, and L.A.
